Definition of Business Economics

Business Economics is the application of economic theory and methods to the analysis of business decisions. That means it is the study of how businesses use resources to produce goods and services and how they interact with the markets in which they operate. It also includes the study of how businesses make decisions about pricing, finances, production, and investment.

To illustrate this, let’s look at a small bakery. Let’s say the bakery produces bread and other baked goods and sells them to customers in the local area. To do this, it needs to make decisions about pricing, production, and investment. For example, it needs to decide how much to charge for its products, how much to produce, and how much to invest in new equipment. To make these decisions, the bakery needs to consider its factors of production (which are inherently scarce), the costs of production, the demand for its products, and the competition from other bakeries. All of these factors can be analyzed using economic methods and theory.

Business Economics is an important field of study because it helps businesses make better decisions.
